Cerulean City.
City of Water, and ironically it was raining.
Brandon looked out of his window.
"Look Squirtle, it's raining! Let's go outside!"
Brandon had always loved the rain more than the sun. He couldn't stand the heat.
Squirtle nodded and seemed happy. "Squirtle, squirtle!"
Brandon put on his jacket and he and his watery friend went outside.
He was a little over 20 and lived on his own in Cerulean City.
This is great, the rain is so refreshing, Brandon thought.
He looked at Squirtle who seemed very pleased as they walked in the rain.
It was only a year ago that the two of them met. It was a stormy day just like this one. His grandfather was ill and the entire family was there. The day before he passed away he gave every member of the family one of his beloved Pokemon to take care of. His cousin Jeremy got a Magnemite with which he used to tease Brandon and his Squirtle.
At first Squirtle seemed to be a bit confused about having a new owner, but after a while he'd gotten used to it.
Yes, life was great for Brandon and Squirtle, it was a peaceful life, up until now that is.
Brandon stopped when they passed the local Gym.
I want to be a Gym leader too, Brandon thought and watched several trainers competing against the Gym Leader Misty and some of her apprentices.
Squirtle looked at his master. "Squirtle squir?"
"Yes sorry Squirtle, let's continue."
Brandon and his little friend had never fought actually, he'd never thought about being a Pokemon trainer. Also the Squirtle wasn't caught with a Pokeball, his grandfather believed in a different way of training Pokemon, through love, Pokemon would come to him because they trusted him and stayed with him because he was so nice to them.
When he died, most relatives captured their Pokemon with a Pokeball to asure their loyalty to the family. A few such as Brandon and his uncle Jack didn't capture the Pokemon. Squirtle never disobeyed his master.
Water filled the streets and it began to rain harder, Brandon and Squirtle decided to return to home.
Once they where back Brandon got a phonecall from a mysterious man.
"You are speaking with Team Rocket. We have kidnapped your uncle Jack and took away his Alakazam. If you want to see them back, you will have to pay €1.000.000,- we will only bring you back your uncle, the Pokemon is ours."
On the background Brandon heard his uncle's voice. "Leave the boy alone you villains!"
The man spoke again. "We will contact you in a week, on this number. Don't be late."
Before Brandon could say a thing, they hung up.
"Oh no... My uncle has been taken by Team Rocket! Squirtle what must I do?"
Squirtle punched the air in front of him and seemed upset.
"Yes that's right! We have to fight them to get him back. Are you with me my friend?"
Squirtle seemed to agree. "Squirtle Squir!!"
"Yeah! Let's do this!"
He ran outside to start training but stumbled on a package.
There was a letter attached to it.
"Dear Brandon, Inside are 5 Pokeballs and 1 potion, to start your journey to become a great Gym Leader. Kisses, Christina, your loving girlfriend."
Sweet girl, he thought. The package came all the way from Cinnabar Island where she lives.
Such coincidence he thought. Just what I need.
He took his savings of €100,- with which he was planning to buy a new game, and the items and left his house.
