Officially, Kemet's writing system consists out of both idealogical al phonetic glyphs, though nowadays mainly the phonetic ones are used. Kemetians call their writing system "sẖ3 n mdw nṯr" (sekha n medu nechir), which means "writing of the words of god." The phonetic script consists out of 24 glyphs standing for the following sounds:
(pronunciation, if different from western, added.) 3 - glottal stop, 'ah' i - 'i' or 'a' y ' - 'o/a' while swallowing w - 'w' or 'u' b p f m n r h ḥ - emphatic 'h', pronounced in back of mouth ḫ - 'kh', dutch 'g' (goed) ẖ - 'kh', german 'ch' (ich) s ลก - 'sh' ḳ - emphatic 'k', pronounced in back of mouth k g - as in "good" t ṯ - 'ch' (as in "church") d ḏ - 'dj' (as in "judge")
